Reiki Levels 1–5 in the Bernese Oberland for Beginners, Practitioners & Reiki Masters

May 15 - 19, 2027 at Schweibenalp, Brienz

Are you curious to discover Reiki, or would you like to deepen your Reiki practice and continue to the next level?

Reiki is a Japanese energy healing practice developed by Mikao Usui. It works with gentle touch, or the hands held just above the body, to support the body's natural flow of energy. Many people learn Reiki for relaxation and stress reduction. Others practice it for inner balance, self-awareness, and personal or spiritual growth.

One of the beautiful aspects of Reiki is its simplicity. It can be learned by anyone, even without previous experience.

Punnu Wasu teaches an in-depth Reiki course in Switzerland at Schweibenalp, a retreat centre set on a plateau above Lake Brienz in the Bernese Oberland. His training combines traditional Reiki teachings with his many years of personal practice and experience, held in the quiet of this alpine setting.

The Reiki training offers Levels 1–5, from the foundations of Reiki through Practitioner, Master, Master Teacher and Grand Master levels. However, you do not need to complete all five levels.

If you are completely new to Reiki, you begin with Reiki Level 1. If you have already studied Reiki with Punnu or another Reiki teacher, you can continue with the next appropriate level.

You are free to complete one level, several levels or continue gradually over time. There is no requirement to progress all the way to Level 5. Each student can move forward at their own pace and according to their own interest and experience.

Each Reiki level is a complete training in itself and includes teachings, practical experience, an individual Reiki attunement, a comprehensive manual and a certificate upon successful completion of the level.

Punnu usually offers two Reiki Trainings in Bali and two Reiki Trainings in Switzerland each year. For more details, please visit the links below.

Why Choose Punnu Wasu's Reiki Training at Schweibenalp

Punnu has more than 35 years of experience in Reiki, meditation, yoga and various holistic healing modalities. Raised in a family deeply rooted in spirituality and kirtan, he began learning and singing kirtan at the age of five, an early connection to spiritual practice that became a lasting foundation for his path.

Before teaching, he spent over 20 years deepening his own practice, study and personal development. That foundation still shapes how he teaches today: with depth, experience, practical guidance and a strong focus on personal practice.

For more than 15 years, Punnu has offered private Reiki and holistic healing sessions at The Yoga Barn in Ubud, Bali, and at retreat centres across Switzerland, including Schweibenalp. Alongside his work in Bali and Switzerland, he also works with people internationally while traveling and through online sessions. Over the years, his students and clients have included doctors, nurses, massage therapists and other healing professionals, as well as yoga teachers, athletes, animal communicators, and wellness professionals from five-star hotels and spas, coming from many countries, backgrounds, ages and beliefs, including experienced Reiki Masters who trained in a different tradition before continuing their journey with Punnu.

His Reiki training goes beyond technique alone. Students are supported in developing a deeper understanding of energy, awareness and their own inner practice.

Depending on the level, training may include self-Reiki, giving Reiki to others, energy awareness, Reiki techniques and symbols, meditation, and personal and spiritual development with more advanced levels adding the skills needed to guide and teach others, along with further practices and teachings.

The five-level structure lets each student choose their own path. Some come mainly for personal growth and self-practice, while others continue toward becoming a Reiki practitioner, Reiki Master, Master Teacher or Grand Master.

Whether you're beginning Reiki for the first time or continuing an existing practice, you can join at the level that fits your experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need previous Reiki experience to join?
No. Reiki Level 1 is open to complete beginners. If you've already trained with Punnu or another Reiki teacher, you can continue with the next appropriate level.

Do I have to complete all five Reiki levels?
No. There's no requirement to complete all five. You can do just one level, several levels, or progress gradually over time — how far you continue is entirely up to you.

Can I continue if I studied Reiki with another teacher?
Yes. If you've already completed one or more levels elsewhere, you typically don't need to start again from Level 1. Let us know which level you've completed and which Reiki tradition you studied when you register.

What is included in each Reiki level?
Each level includes teachings, practical experience, an individual Reiki attunement, a comprehensive manual, and a certificate upon completion.

What is a Reiki attunement?
A Reiki attunement is a core part of traditional Reiki training, given by the Reiki Master at each level as part of the traditional progression. Punnu gives individual attunements, so each student receives their own personal attunement rather than being attuned as part of a group.

Can I learn Reiki only for myself?
Yes. You don't need to become a professional practitioner — many students learn Reiki purely for self-practice, personal growth, relaxation and greater awareness.

Can I become a professional Reiki practitioner?
Yes. Reiki can be practiced personally or professionally. If you're new and want to work professionally later, it helps to first practice regularly with family and friends to build experience and confidence. If you're already practicing professionally, further levels deepen your knowledge and skill. Please also check the requirements for offering Reiki professionally in the country where you plan to practice, as these vary.

How long is each Reiki level?
Each Reiki level is taught as a full-day training, starting at 9:00am with a one-hour lunch break. Levels 1–4 usually finish around 6:00pm, and Level 5 around 5:00pm.

How do I know which Reiki level is right for me?
If you've already studied with Punnu or another teacher, you can normally continue from where you left off. If you're unsure which level fits you, contact us at psw@punnuwasu.com.
