Reiki is a Japanese energy healing practice developed by Mikao Usui. It uses gentle touch, or the hands placed just above the body, to support the natural flow of energy. Many people learn Reiki in Bali for relaxation and stress reduction. Others practice it for inner balance, self-awareness, and personal or spiritual growth.

One of the beautiful aspects of Reiki is its simplicity. It can be learned by anyone, even without previous experience.

Punnu Wasu teaches an in-depth Reiki course in Bali at The Yoga Barn in Ubud. His training combines traditional Reiki teachings with his many years of personal practice and experience.

The Reiki training offers Levels 1–5, from the foundations of Reiki through Practitioner, Master, Master Teacher and Grand Master levels. However, you do not need to complete all five levels.

If you are completely new to Reiki, you begin with Reiki Level 1. If you have already studied Reiki with Punnu or another Reiki teacher, you can continue with the next appropriate level.

You are free to complete one level, several levels or continue gradually over time. There is no requirement to progress all the way to Level 5. Each student can move forward at their own pace and according to their own interest and experience.

Each Reiki level is a complete training in itself and includes teachings, practical experience, an individual Reiki attunement, a comprehensive manual and a certificate upon successful completion of the level.

Punnu has more than 35 years of experience in Reiki, meditation, yoga and various holistic healing modalities. He grew up in a family deeply rooted in spirituality and kirtan and began learning and singing kirtan at the age of five. This early connection to spiritual practice became an important foundation for his path.

Before he began teaching, he spent over 20 years deepening his own practice, study and personal development. This strong foundation is reflected in the way he teaches today: with depth, experience, practical guidance and a strong focus on personal practice.

For more than 15 years, Punnu has also offered private Reiki and various holistic healing sessions at The Yoga Barn in Ubud, Bali. Alongside his work in Bali, he works with people internationally while traveling and through online sessions. Over the years, he has taught and treated doctors, nurses, massage therapists, and other healing professionals, as well as yoga teachers, athletes, animal communicators, and wellness professionals from five-star hotels and spas. His students and clients come from many countries, backgrounds, ages and beliefs including experienced Reiki Masters who trained in a different tradition before continuing their journey with Punnu.

His Reiki training goes beyond learning techniques alone. Students are encouraged to develop a deeper understanding of energy, awareness and their own inner practice.

Depending on the level, the training may include self-Reiki, giving Reiki to others, energy awareness, Reiki techniques and symbols, meditation, personal and spiritual development and, at the more advanced levels, the skills needed to guide and teach others, as well as many additional practices and teachings.

The five-level structure allows each student to choose their own path. Some students come mainly for personal growth and self-practice, while others continue toward becoming a Reiki practitioner, Reiki Master, Master Teacher or Grand Master.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need previous Reiki experience to join?

No. Reiki Level 1 is open to complete beginners. If you have already completed Reiki training with Punnu or another Reiki teacher, you can continue with the next appropriate level.

Do I have to complete all five Reiki levels?

No. There is no requirement to complete all five levels. You can choose to complete just one Reiki level, continue with several levels or gradually progress over time. How far you want to continue is entirely your decision.

Can I continue if I studied Reiki with another teacher?

Yes. If you have already completed one or more Reiki levels with another teacher, you do not normally need to begin again with Level 1. Please let us know which Reiki level you have completed and which Reiki tradition or system you studied when registering.

What is included in each Reiki level?

Each level includes teachings, practical experience, an individual Reiki attunement, a comprehensive manual and a certificate issued upon successful completion.

What is a Reiki attunement?

A Reiki attunement is an important part of traditional Reiki training. It is given by the Reiki Master as part of each level and is part of the traditional progression through the Reiki system. Punnu offers individual attunements, so each student receives their own personal attunement rather than being attuned as part of a group.

Can I learn Reiki only for myself?

Yes. You do not need to become a professional Reiki practitioner. Many students learn Reiki for self-practice, personal growth, relaxation, greater awareness and spiritual development.

Can I become a professional Reiki practitioner?

Yes. Reiki can be used personally or offered professionally. If you are new to Reiki and would like to work professionally in the future, it is recommended to first practice regularly with family and friends. This helps you become more familiar with Reiki, gain practical experience and build confidence in giving sessions. If you are already practicing Reiki professionally, you can continue your training to deepen your knowledge, experience and understanding of Reiki. Please also check the requirements and regulations for offering Reiki professionally in the country where you plan to practice, as these may vary.

How long is each Reiki level?

Each Reiki level in Bali is taught as a full-day training, starting at 9:00am and including a one-hour lunch break. Reiki Levels 1 - 4 usually finish at approximately 6:00pm, while Reiki Level 5 usually finishes at approximately 5:00pm.

How do I know which Reiki level is right for me?
