WHAT IS KIRTAN

Kirtan began in India centuries ago as a spiritual practice and a way for people to gather and connect with the Divine. As you join the mantras and find your voice, you learn through repetition and feel the vibration moving through you. Song, sound, and music all carry frequency, which can help clear blocked energy, shift emotional states, and uplift the soul. Kirtan often naturally brings more energy, movement, and sometimes dance.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF CHANTING

Chanting is not only the most fun way to meditate but, like laughter yoga, it is also good for your health. The rhythmic tones of chanting mantra and singing kirtan release naturally occurring chemicals in the brain and body that have therapeutic effect.

Studies have proven that chanting helps to raise the frequency of your emotions flooding your system with feelings of love, compassion, self-awareness and consciousness. The process flushing lower vibration emotions from the system. Sufferers of anxiety, depression and insomnia can be assured that studies show chanting has benefits of more ease, deep rest and allows for more control of their emotions. Punnu Wasu


Punnu is an Indian vocalist, musician, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. He was born and raised in Hyderabad into a family that has a true love for kirtan and spirituality. He began studying harmonium and singing at the tender age of 5. At age 10, he moved on to studying the Indian Classical Music (Hindustani) while travelling with his father throughout India singing the beautiful verses of Kirtan.

Later on, he also studied mandolin and tabla. He performs Kirtan, Xtatic Kirtan, Indian Fusion, Indian Classical music, Sufi, Bollywood music as well as Sound Healing around the world. Punnu is featured in the documentary "The Power of Mantra". He has his own Kirtan Academy and Sound Healing Academy and also leads music workshops in combination with yoga & meditation globally.

When you chant a mantra, you’re not just singing. You’re reshaping your inner world through sound. Every vibration is a prayer, every syllable a step back home to your heart.
